®JUSTGRASS
The Chinchilla food that's ideal for owners that are allergic to dust!

PLEASE NOTE: For customers that already use Readigrass - changing to Justgrass is no problem
(There is no need to 'introduce' Justgrass if they are eating Readigrass already)

®Justgrass has proved to be a complete and safe food for chinchillas
Just like ®Readigrass - a grass - but with a much higher fibre content
and with the great advantage of a much lower sugar and protein count

You may think that high protein would be better,
with beef and dairy cattle that may be fine - with chinchillas that's otherwise
Just like pellets, it has to have the right balance of protein
too little is not enough and too much can produce some rather porky little furballs
(especially caged animals that only come out to play once in a while with no extra's like chin wheels)

A balanced diet is what a chinchilla requires - just like any other animal
A good pellet produces a balance of protein and vitamins
A good HAY, GRASS and ALFALFA (Lucerne) - are the fibrous part of that diet

So grass/hay/alfalfa MUST have a balanced high fibre count for chinchillas

That's the essential balance!!

To compare 'Readigrass' and 'Justgrass' on fibre
For the more scientific ones among us - we have supplied a chart
Note that the Calcium and Phosphorus is 2:1 on the JUSTGRASS
- balanced like hays

And a 1% less on protein (or lower depending on cut)
1% may not seem much for protein - but eaten every day it makes a difference
Protein is essential - but a good pellet should contain the best amounts for balance
The fibre is a fantastic 40%-42% - higher than Timothy and most good hays
(which are usually around 30%-35% depending on season cut)
Because of the high fibre content - chinchillas tend to eat less of the grass
therefore, not as much grass needs to be fed each day in the food bowl
JUSTGRASS has a season cut of 1 year - so a longer life
(although we will be buying in every 4 months)

®JUSTGRASS BENEFITS

1 A high quality product for animals - large and small
2  Molasses free and with the correct balance of calcium and phosphorous, an essential part of the chinchillas balanced diet
3 Mega in fibre! - which makes it more ideal than ®Readigrass for chinchillas and makes them use their teeth more, making for a better 'all rounder' for body and health
4 It has absolutely no molasses - so will not taint the fur (important with show animals) and molasses is not good in large amounts for chinchillas (and other animals) especially when it is in a main feed
5 You do not need to feed as much of this grass as you do hay
A 500gm bag will last about 2 months for 1 chinchilla
- thus more cost effective for the small pet owner
6  It's short cut - so best in a bowl and much less 'messy' than hay - therefore easier to clean the cages
7 It is ' dust extracted' and therefore very good for owners allergic to hay
8 And with a higher content of fibre and minerals - has a longer lasting lifespan of 1-2 years - kept in the right conditions

A balance of 4-8gms of the grass and their regular intake of  pellets is the best diet

Chinchillas may of been alert, have plusher fur and the energy of a furry cannonball with ®Readigrass
But with ®JUSTGRASS - expect furry Megaballs!

The high fibre is a brilliant addition to a caged animal that does not have a 'full night' playtime outside the pet cage
Constipation has always been one of those things that owners need to check out with
their pet and their droppings, with more fibre in the diet - there is less chance of constipation with animals that are more prone to this problem and other digestive problems

For simple instructions on how to introduce ®JUSTGRASS to your chinchilla for the first time
it is important that you follow the easy guide below
Remember: introducing any new grass/hay to a chinchilla must
be gradually done UNLESS of course, you already feed your pet
with the ®READIGRASS - if your chinchilla already eats
®Readigrass then you can instantly start using ®JUSTGRASS straight away
with no slow introduction

ONE MONTH INTRODUCTORY for owners that are NEW to any grass products

Over a period of one month introduce ®JUSTGRASS with your chinchillas normal hay and pellets
Start with a few sprigs until by the end of the month your chinchilla will be eating approximately 4-8gms of the grass per day.
Your chinchilla should of gone through 100-150gms for that first month done this way
*****************
Take note of your chinchillas droppings, but with the high fibre of JUSTGRASS there is rarely a
problem with constipation - if it goes the other way - soft droppings - then slow down introducing it!
ALWAYS throw away any grass not eaten from the previous day
(all grasses retain water and could cause bloat if left)
***********************
Make sure they also eats their adequate amount of pellets for a balanced diet

Feed ®JUSTGRASS in a dish instead of the hay rack (grass is too fine for racks)
If the pellet dish is large enough you can put the grass in with the pellets, although it is best to keep two dishes in the cage, one for pellets and the other larger one for the grass
